METAL SLABS are what they say : thick aluminum slabs. From the idea of turning this purely industrial material into a figurative work came a series of technical processes and chemical treatments
which, combined, form a photograph. The aluminum is microbeaded and anodized
to get its profound matte colour. It is then laser engraved to remove microscopic parts of the anodization, making the clear, grey, pure aluminium appear behind and form an image. No pigment, no ink, no paint. Just aluminum. Images appear from nothing on this black monolith, charged with an eerie energy.
